Overnight Traffic Slowdowns on Route 65

At Battlefield Road on Friday Night, April 17

MoDOT Traffic Alert 

Where: Northbound and southbound Route 65 between Route 60 and Sunshine Street in Springfield

When: 9 p.m. Friday, April 17, until 2 a.m. Saturday, April 18

What: Route 65 traffic slowed and possibly stopped for short periods to allow contractor crews to install bridge girders for the new south half of the Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65.

Traffic Impacts: Law enforcement officers will slow Route 65 traffic starting at Route 60 for northbound drivers and at Sunshine Street for southbound drivers.  Traffic will be slowed and possibly stopped for very short periods while the girders are placed and secured.

NOTE: Lane closings are possible on Route 65 Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, to allow contractor crews to do other bridge work. 

Project Summary:

  • Replace Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65
  • Convert interchange to a Diverging Diamond configuration
  • Build northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes on Route 65 to connect Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road ramps
  • Install new traffic signal at Battlefield Road and Woodstock Avenue

Prime Contractor: Hartman and Company, Inc., Springfield

Completion Date: September 2015

Total Project Cost: $12.5 million.

Partnership Project: City of Springfield, Greene County, Ozarks Transportation Organization, Jack Henry & Associates, Justice Jewelers and McLean Enterprises, Inc.
