Battlefield Road/Route 65 Interchange Reconstruction Project

Update for Week of Jan. 26, 2015

  • Daytime lane closings planned on southbound Route 65 underneath Battlefield Road
  • Traffic shift planned for eastbound Battlefield Road over Route 65
  • Short-term traffic stops on Route 65 ramps

Work Scheduled: 

  • Removing guardrail and paving along southbound Route 65 underneath Battlefield Road for future traffic shift away from median
  • Shifting eastbound Battlefield Road traffic slightly to the north for upcoming traffic pattern change
  • Hauling rock and dirt to the southbound Route 65 auxiliary lane between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road
  • Breaking rock and grading dirt in areas along the Route 65 ramps south of Battlefield Road
  • Hauling rock and dirt from ramp areas to storage areas   

Traffic Impacts: 

  • Daytime lane closings on southbound Route 65.  Two lanes will remain open during the work.  Work hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Traffic delays for westbound traffic on Battlefield Road at Route 65.  Work hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Short-term traffic stops on Route 65 ramps at times to allow trucks to enter and leave work areas
  • Southbound Route 65 right-shoulder closed at times north of Battlefield Road
  • Trucks entering and leaving other work areas

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)

Project Summary:

  • Replace Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65
  • Convert interchange to a Diverging Diamond configuration
  • Build northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes on Route 65 to connect Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road ramps
  • Install new traffic signal at Battlefield Road and Woodstock Avenue

Prime Contractor: Hartman and Company, Inc., Springfield

Completion Date: September 2015

Total Project Cost: $12.5 million.

Partnership Project: City of Springfield, Greene County, Ozarks Transportation Organization, Jack Henry & Associates, Justice Jewelers and McLean Enterprises, Inc.
